The ICAR Mizoram Centre, Kolasib conducted one day training on “Low cost feeding and early weaning of pigs for livelihood
improvement of tribal farmers of Mizoram” on 26th March, 2026. The programme was organized under NABARD. The training was inaugurated by the HoRC, Dr. S. Doley, ICAR, Mizoram
Centre, Kolasib. During the inauguration, Dr. S. Doley welcome all the participants and highlighted the main idea behind the training programme and the scenario of pig farming
in North East, India with special reference to Mizoram and Dr. J.D. Traite, DDM, Kolasib, NABARD gives the lecture on the overview of NABARD activities and funding of different schemes.
A total of 25 farmers from Thingdawl, Bairabi and Kawnpui villages of Kolasib district participated in the training programme.
Various topics were covered in this training programme like low cost feeding of pigs, early weaning of pigs; health management for profitable pig farming etc. Farmers were also
given a practical demonstration on low cost feeding of pigs. Experts from ICAR Mizoram Centre delivered lectures during the one day training programme. The programme was coordinated
by Dr. Lalhruaipuii, Senior Scientist (Vety. Microbiology) and Dr. Blessa Sailo Senior Scientist (Vety. Public Health).
